Apartments Near Naval Station Great Lakes
Naval Station Great Lakes is in North Chicago, Illinois, and so are most of the buildings below. Castlewood Properties owns and rents apartments and houses in the same city, and in Waukegan next door. If you are posting in, working on the base as a civilian, or moving to the area for the Lovell Federal Health Care Center, this is where to start looking.

We have no affiliation with the Navy or the Department of Defense, we run no military discount scheme, and nothing on this page is an offer of a particular apartment. What we can tell you is which buildings we own, what layouts they have, and who to ring to find out what is open.
Working out what suits you
- Size first. Our North Chicago buildings run from studios through to four bedroom houses. A studio or a one bedroom suits one person or a couple; the houses on the residential streets west of Sheridan Road suit families and people sharing.
- Apartment building or house. The buildings on and around Sheridan Road are apartment buildings. Further west we rent two flats and single family houses, which are quieter and usually come with a yard.
- Look at the map. Every building we own in North Chicago is pinned below, so you can see where each one sits before you ring about it.
- Ask about timing. We do not publish a vacancy list. If you have orders with a report date, tell Dan the date when you call and he will tell you what is likely to be free.
We accept Section 8 and Housing Choice Vouchers. Say so when you first call.

Arranging a showing and applying
Call Dan Taylor on (224) 381-2027. Tell him the town, the size you need and roughly when you need it. He handles Waukegan, North Chicago, Zion and Kenosha himself, so you are speaking to the person who knows what is coming free. A showing time is arranged with him rather than booked online.
If a home is a good fit, Dan will invite you to apply and give you the application. You will need a photo ID and proof of income. How renting works walks through the whole process, including maintenance once you have moved in.
